Service Project – April 9th Financial Literacy Class for YMCA Teens

Service Team 3 needs 7-10 volunteers for Saturday, April 9th at the Financial Literacy class for Y-Achievers.  The class will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the College of Charleston N. Charleston Campus located at 3800 Paramount Drive. We also need cash donations to cover the lunch and prizes for approximately 30 students.  Please contact Ted Chestnut if you can volunteer and/or donate money.

East Cooper Rotary Club will provide books (Dave Ramsey – Total Money Makeover) and lunch, and we will present prizes and certificates at the Y-Achievers Banquet in June..  Russell Stewart from Merrick Financial and Wes McKenna from The McKenna Agency, are the instructors.  The coordinators of the Y- Achievers Program are very excited to have our involvement in this class.  In fact, they’ve asked if we can help provide a more consistent Financial Literacy program every year.

The Y – Achievers program is a national YMCA initiative which helps Charleston area middle and high school students from disadvantage communities develop, pursue and attain educational and career goals. Help from sponsors is needed to provide educational materials for SAT/ACT preparation college, scholarships and college tour opportunities for students grades 7 -12.
