The East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club will meet Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. in The Cooper River Room at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. We are pleased to have Samantha Morris, Outreach Coordinator of My Sister’s House, as our guest speaker. Breakfast catered by Dish and Design.
Sam Morris is the Outreach Coordinator at My Sister’s House, Inc. a domestic violence program in South Carolina serving Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester counties. She received her Bachelor of Social Work from Limestone College in 2012. During her study at Limestone she completed a 400 hour internship with My Sister’s House, Inc. Upon completion of her internship, she was offered a part time position as night and weekend staff. A month later, Sam applied for a full time position with the organization as the Client Services Coordinator/Case Manager (CSC). Sam worked for over 2.5 years as the CSC, juggling the largest case load in the shelter. In addition to case management, Sam provided individual and group counseling and referral services for adult clients, provided intake, crisis intervention, and advocacy to clients, and developed a support services program within the organization. Sam then advanced to her next and current position as the Outreach Coordinator. As the Outreach Coordinator/Case Manager, Sam is responsible for providing group counseling and referral services for victims of domestic violence both in and out of shelter, she provides emergency individual counseling sessions as needed and has case management responsibilities for sheltered victims, while still conducting intakes and crisis intervention services to callers and clients. Sam also spends a great deal of her time spreading awareness in the community about domestic violence and is always seeking new opportunities and audiences. Sam was awarded the My Sister’s House, Inc. Full-Time Employee of the year for 2015.
