June 6th Guest Speaker – Dr. Philip Smeltzer: MUSC Total Population Health

The East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club will meet Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. in The Cooper River Room at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. We are pleased to have Dr. Philip Smeltzer, Program Administrator of MUSC’s Total Population Health, as our guest speaker. Breakfast catered by Dish and Design.

Philip Smeltzer is the Program Administrator of Total Population Health and responsible for health improvement activities and strategies for patient populations served by MUSC Health. Over the past 30 years, Philip was a Managing Consultant, Optum where Philip evaluated health promotion and health management programs for Fortune 100 clients. Previous career roles include: Vice President, Health Care Quality Improvement HealthNow NY in upstate New York. Philip was also responsible for the design, development and implementation of the preventive care and wellness programs at Humana. Dr. Smeltzer has also worked as an Associate Director with the Wellness Institute of Buffalo and served as a field product manager for Abbott Diagnostics after serving as a Marine Corps Officer on active duty for five years and the Reserves for 19 years.

Philip obtained his PhD at the University of Louisville, School of Public Health and Information Science in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science.
