Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust (CART)

The East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club will meet Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. in The Cooper River Room at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. We are pleased to have fellow Rotarian Jack Vax as our guest speaker. Breakfast catered by Dish and Design.

Jack will educate us on the Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust, otherwise known as the CART Fund. The CART Fund provides funds for cutting edge research to cure Alzheimer’s disease. CART started in 1996 with Rotarians voluntarily emptying their pockets and purses of change at weekly meetings. Every Tuesday, Jack places blue buckets on each table at our meetings to collect small change for CART.  One hundred percent (100%) of donated funds go to cutting edge Alzheimer’s disease research. As of May 2016, the CART Fund has awarded $5.8 million dollars in 34 grants to recognized US research institutions. All administrative expenses of the Fund are paid from interest earned from invested contributions.
