May 16th Guest Speaker – Leigh Handal, Charleston Raconteurs

The East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club will meet Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 7:30 a.m. in The Cooper River Room at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. We are pleased to have Leigh Handal Owner of Charleston Raconteurs, as our guest speaker. Breakfast catered by Dish and Design.

A native South Carolinian, Leigh Jones Handal has been an avid student of Lowcountry history since she was a Brownie Scout. She is co-editor of the City of Charleston’s official Tour Guide Training Manual and organized Historic Charleston Foundation’s annual spring house and garden tours for 13 years, as well as the Preservation Society of Charleston’s fall home tours.

A graduate of the College of Charleston, Leigh has been a licensed tour guide for more than 20 years. She created and appears regularly on the Lowcountry Live show’s “I Love the Lowcountry” series (WCIV- TV4).

Leigh founded Charleston Raconteurs in March 2015. A raconteur is a person who tells anecdotes in a skillful and amusing way.  Charleston Raconteurs offers its guests something unique, something just a little more. The tours are designed to appeal to those seeking a deeper understanding of Charleston’s colonial and antebellum history, as well as those who have visited Charleston before and are looking for an experience that goes beyond the traditional carriage or walking tour downtown.
