For the July 28th meeting, we will welcome Barbara Kelly-Duncan, CEO of Carolina Youth Development, as our speaker.

Barbara Kelley-DuncanMs. Kelley-Duncan has served as CEO for Carolina Youth Development Center (CYDC) since 2003. Prior to this appointment, she served as Vice President for Enterprise Development at Casey Family Programs, headquartered in Seattle, Washington. Prior to that appointment, she served as Vice President for Leadership Development at the Children’s Defense Fund in Washington, DC.

Ms. Kelley-Duncan serves on the Boards of the New Morning Foundation and the United Way Association of South Carolina, Inc., both in Columbia, SC. She also serves on the Board of Governors for The Harbour Club in Charleston.

She is a recipient of the Luminous Award for Women of Distinction, Raritan Valley Chapter of the Links, Inc.; and was a guest lecturer at The International Interdisciplinary Course on Children’s Rights in Brussels, Belgium. In October 2008, she was selected as one of the 15 Most Influential Women in Business by the Charleston Regional Business Journal. In May 2011, Barbara was awarded the 2011 Nonprofit Leader award from the Women’s Leadership Council of Trident United Way.

Ms. Kelley-Duncan is a member of the Charleston Rotary and as part of her Rotary service, is a member of the Education Committee, and with several other Rotarians, participated in a Water Missions International trip to Peru in March 2011. She is also a member of the Mayor’s Commission for Children, Youth and Families in Charleston, and previously served as Chair of the Mayor’s National League of Cities Youth Task Force. She participated in the Rotary Auxiliary’s Women of Distinction Speaker’s Series in January 2011, and mentors a female MBA student as part of her membership in the Citadel Mentoring Association.
