The East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club will meet Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. in The Cooper River Room at the Mount Pleasant Waterfront Park. We are pleased to hear from fellow Rotarian Sean Glassberg about Racers for Pacers, a non- profit founded by Sean in 2011. Breakfast catered by Dish and Design Catering and Events.

Inspired by Rick and Dick Hoyt, Sean started Racers for Pacers to help Lowcountry kids with disabilities become a part of the vibrant running community in our area. Racers for Pacers currently has over 20 Racers who participate in local road races and run each week with either their parents as Pacers or volunteers from our community.

Sean Glassberg is a Rotarian involved with the Georgetown Rotary Club because he loves driving 40+ miles one way to get from his home in Mount Pleasant to his campus at Horry Georgetown Technical College, where he serves as Director of Faculty Development and teaches English from time to time. He is a proud father of four and husband of one who also coaches his kids in Mt Pleasant Rec Sports programs and runs a side business to provide faculty development for other colleges and universities. Somehow, he finds time to run and train on his own when he is not herding his kids or taking out the garbage.

giorgio

As you all know, East Cooper Breakfast Rotary is hosting a Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) student from Italy this year, Giorgio Cracchiolo from the island of Sicily. He is attending Academic Magnet as a junior and is staying this first semester with the family of an outbound RYE student that attends Academic Magnet.  However, Giorgio needs to find another host family for the Spring semester.  If you or someone you know feels called to host this kind, good-spirited young Italian boy, please contact Wayne Cassaday or Jill Aiken. Giorgio promises to give his host family a great cultural experience from his home country as well through stories and laughter. If you’re a Clemson fan, he loves going to the games.  If you’re Gamecock, then he needs you to bring him over to the other side!

summer-soiree-logoService Team #2 will be having a Summer Soiree from 7-10 PM on Friday 28 August at the home of Paul and Anjie Curry. Everyone should plan to bring heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages of your choice to share. One of the objectives for the evening is to introduce prospective members to a small group of people where they can meet and discuss the benefits of Rotary membership. Please try to invite at least one potential member to the party.

In addition, we will have a special guest with us that evening, Giulia Balzano. Giulia is an International Rotary Youth Exchange participant from Italy. Giulia will be attending Wando High School for the 2015-16 school year and I know you will enjoy getting to know her!

Please RSVP by emailing Wayne Cassaday if you can attend this event. Final details and the Curry’s address will be forwarded closer to the date of the soiree.

We are excited to say that we now have a new East Cooper Breakfast Rotary Club Facebook page!

Please “Like” the page and invite your friends and family to like it as well.  We will post speakers, events, monthly service projects, pictures, etc. to keep everyone engaged and spreading the good work that our club does.

We ask that members post pictures from events or other Rotary locations you may go to.  We want to see what everyone is doing and how it relates to Rotary’s mission.  Remember tag people in the photos.  This helps to reach more people on Facebook and bring them over to our page.
